Thriller New Releases: Week of January 17, 2012 (And preview weeks)
Since I am reading more and more thrillers lately, I thought I would whip up a post listing this week's new thriller releases. It seems to be an increasing trend where the new thriller releases excite me way more than the new fantasy releases. But that is a topic for another post...
Here are the new thriller (and some mystery) releases according to amazon. Those with a * are the ones I am particularly interested in checking out.
-*Siege by Simon Kernick (digital..this release is a little confusing. It seems the Kindle release coming out tomorrow is from the UK publisher, but the US gets a physical book from a US publisher in February. Anyway, I am highly interested in checking this one out. Will be downloading a sample of this tomorrow.)
-*The Silent Oligarch by Chris Morgan Jones (hc, digital..the reviews make this one sound super-tempting, too)
-The Spy Who Came in from the Cold: A George Smiley Novel by John Le carre (finally out in digital format, a classic.)
-*All Necessary Force by Brad Taylor (hc, digital...2nd in a series. The first got good reviews. I'm afraid it sounds a little 'typical', but I will most likely check it out at some point)
-*Bull Street by David Lender (tpb, digital..I'm interested in this one cuz its a Wall Street novel. I don't read many/any of those, but this sounds like it might be a good one to try out. And the kindle edition is only $2.99)
-Caveat Emptor: A Novel of the Roman Empire by Ruth Downie (tpb, digital)
-The Chalk Girl by Carol O'Connell (hc, digital)
-Dead Low Tide: A Novel by Brett Lott (hc, digital)
-Eyes of the Innocent: A Mystery by Brad Parks (tpb, digital)
-The Face Thief by Eli Gottlieb (hc, digital..awesome title, but not so interested in the book itself)
-*From the Ashes by Jeremy Burns (tpb, digital..I think this might be the first in a new series. Also might be an indie author. Interested enough to download a sample, and the Kindle edition is only $3.99 at the moment)
-The Gravy Train by David Lender (tpb, digital..guess there are a couple coming out by this author this week)
-The Look of Love: A Piper Donovan Mystery by Mary Jane Clark (hc, digital)
-*Raylan: A Novel (Raylan Givens) by Elmore Leonard (hc, digital..I received a review copy in the mail yesterday, so I'll be reading this one very soon)
-The Rope: An Anna Pigeon Novel) by Nevada Barr (hc, digital)
-Trojan Horse (Wall Street) by David Lender (tpb, digital)
-Vaccine Nation by David Lender (tpb, digital)
-Voices of the Dead by Peter Leonard (tpb, digital)

-Agent 6 by Tom Rob Smith (hc, digital..note that the first book in this series is on sale for $0.99. You can find it by viewing the page for this book).
-The Best Bad Dream by Robert Ward (hc, digital)
-Breakdown by Sarah Paretsky (hc, digital)
-*Buried Secrets (Nick Heller) by Joseph Finder (mmpb, digital)
-The Confession (Ian Rutledge Mysteries) by Charles Todd (hc, digital)

-Gun Games: A Decker/Lazarus Novel by Faye Kellerman (hc, digital)
-*Hard Target by Howard Gordon (hc, digital..I need to read the first one in this series)
-Scarecrow Returns by Matthew Reilly (hc, digital..this author's are supposed to be so over the top and badly written that they are actually kinda fun. According to the reviews anyway. Might download a sample of one sometime. Maybe)
So that is 12 books I am interested in this month so far..with many more coming in the next 2 weeks. This is why it is so tempting to spend some time reading only thrillers for awhile. Still need to write my review of The Detachment by Barry Eisler (which was AWESOME). Will try to get that posted by Friday. I also finished Rise of Empire by Michael Sullivan..I liked it, but the story just isn't quite as epic as I would like. Review of that forthcoming, too.

Right on! I’m kind of a sucker for thrillers myself. My favorite author was always Michael Crichton, and I do enjoy all the mainstream Dan Brown, James Rollins, Matthew Reilly stuff. Always like coming to your blog to see what new things you have posted!
